Understanding of Evangelical, Prophetic and Apostolic songs:

Posted: April 5, 2012 in Foundation on Apostle/ Apostolic, The 5 fold Ministries

I believe this is what the Lord has revealed to me, it has been in my heart for some few days, we are not comparing, we are not making one great and one small, they are all of God, but I believe the Lord wants us to know these things that we would know when we can use them in situations and circumstances and different things for our lives and for the works of God.

What I mean by the Apostolic songs is about the nature, the blessings and the anointing that the songs brought forth.

There are evangelical songs, there are prophetic songs, and there are also an Apostolic songs.

Evangelical songs: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephe 2:8-9)

Evangelical songs will take you to the cross where you are saved by Grace. For Eg: “Only by Grace we can enter, not by our human endeavors”. Those types of songs where we find ourselves forgiven and saved by grace on the Cross, where Jesus died for us, being loved and forgiven on the cross. Since most believers all over the world are quiet familiar with Evangelical songs, we will not be explaining more of this.

Prophetic songs:

Prophetic songs will draw you deeper to God, where you will hear the voice of God, God healed your wounds through the songs, and your spirit is raised up through deep intimacy with God. They also build us up in our walk with God and Relationship with God. Sometimes the songs may go more as God singing a song for us and ministering to our spirit. Many good songs that can draw us closer to God and also ministered to our spirits are also sung by Jason Upton, if anyone wants to find them out either from the internet or other things.

Prophetic songs take us to an encounter with God, and it is the encounters with God that shape History in the Kingdom of God. We are to make God known and Proclaim His name and His Kingdom, but without knowing God we cannot proclaim Him, the only way to know God is to experience Him, we can read Bible, we can read good books, we can do many other things to know Him, but if we do not experienced God in our hearts and other things, then we do not understand them. So, prophetic songs will take us to an encounter with God. When we read the Bible, it comes alive with the understanding of the Scriptures form the Holy Spirit, and draw us closer to God, and makes us know God more and more, then with boldness we can proclaim who our God is into this world. So, we need prophetic songs and especially prophetic things throughout our lives.

Apostolic Songs: Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. (Matt 28:18)

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands”. (Acts 17:24)

Apostolic songs will build your faith, since the foundation for “Advancing the Kingdom of God” is “All Authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to Jesus Christ”, “Jesus Christ is Lord of Heaven and Earth”. So, it is about the Greatness of God, about His Lordship, about His Greatness, His ability, His Authority in Heaven and on Earth, His Lordship in Heaven and on Earth to Advance the Kingdom of God.

Even though we are focusing more on Apostolic songs at this moment, and as the Lord has highlighted in my heart to write them down, we all need Evangelical songs from time to time, we need the forgiveness of our sins from time to time, we always need to know that we are sinners saved by the Grace of God as well, so we continually need Evangelical songs where we find ourselves forgiven from our sins from time to time as a human being, where we knows again and again that we are saved by the Grace of God. But, we cannot dwell in this Evangelical songs only and get back to the cross and dwell around where our sins are forgiven, we need to rise up above that to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We also need prophetic songs after we receive Jesus Christ throughout our lives, they will reveal to us the foundations for our lives, where we are to build our lives. They will draw us closer to God, they will bring us to deeper relationship and intimacy with God, build and strengthened our walk with God from the inside, they will give us inner strength, and we always need to have relationship with God, they are the foundations for our lives. Relationship with God is the first calling of every believers live, from our relationship with God comes other things and ministries, and the ability to work, the ability to advance the Kingdom of God, the ability to serve God and all other good works and services, and it is foundational for a believers of Jesus Christ to have a relationship with God.

On the other hand, all these Evangelical songs, prophetic songs and Apostolic songs are all somehow related and are all Apostolic, Evangelical and also Prophetic in some ways, but they also have slide differences and anointing that it carried, so that is why it is also important for us to know them.

Some few songs of the Apostolic songs are –

We place you in the Highest Place:

We place you in the Highest Place,

For you are the Great High Priest,

We place you High above all else,

And we come to you,

And Worship at Your feet.

Our God is Greater:

Water You turned into wine
Open the eyes of the blind
There’s no one like You
None like You
Into the darkness You shine
Out of the ashes we rise
There’s no one like You
None like You

CHORUS
Our God is greater, our God is stronger
God You are higher than any other
Our God is Healer, awesome and power
Our God, Our God…

Into the darkness you shine
Out of the ashes we Rise
There’s no One like You
None like You.

BRIDGE
And if Our God is for us, then who could ever stop us
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?
And if Our God is for us, then who could ever stop us
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?
What can stand against?

How Great is Our God:

(Chorus)
How great is our God,
Sing with me
How great is our God,
and all who sing
How great, How great
Is our God

(1st stanza)
The splendor of a King,
Clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice,
Let all the earth rejoice,
He wraps himself in light,
And darkness tries to hide
And trembles at his voice,
And trembles at his voice

(2nd stanza)
Age to age he stands
And time is in His Hands
Beginning and the End,
Beginning and the End
The Godhead, Three in one
Father, Spirit, Son
The Lion and the Lamb,
The Lion and the Lamb
Name above all names
You are Worthy of all praise
and My heart will sing how great
Is our God

Apostolic songs are usually starting from the Cross where Christ died for us to His Resurrection and the power of God, the Lordship of God, the Greatness of God and advancing the Kingdom of God for the Glory of God.

Many Christians in different places only dwells around the songs where we are forgiven, we are saved by grace and all those type of songs, of course we do need that, but we need to get to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, declare His Lordship, rather than only living around the cross, we need to live from the cross.

Apostolic songs do not dwell around the cross, but it starts from the Cross to the Resurrection and the Kingdom of God coming on this earth, where His Lordship is declared and Christ Kingdom Coming on this earth, and His Kingdom Advancing with the Lordship of God. Even in our songs, praise and worship, if we have dwelled around the cross for too long generations, we need to get to that place of our dwelling on the forgiveness of our sins to His Resurrections, declaring His Lordship, His Greatness and His Kingdom Coming on this Earth. Those are apostolic songs.

Ephesians 2:5-11 declares the Greatness of God – CHRIST SERVANT-HOOD, HUMBLENESS, DIE TO SELF, HIS DEATH ON THE CROSS, HIS RESURRECTION, HIS LORDSHIP IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH AND UNDER THE EARTH, AND EVERY TONGUE CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD.

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

EPHESIANS 2:5-11

Apostolic songs will bring transformations to cities, towns, villages, nation or nations. Another Example For Apostolic songs –

He is Lord, He is Lord!
He is risen from the dead
    And He is Lord!

    Every knee shall bow
    Every tongue confess
    That Jesus Christ is Lord!
    ______

Declaring the Lordship of God takes us to an encounter with the Lordship of God where the darkness and the enemy trembled. The enemies flee, and the knees of the enemy and the darkness bow before the Lord Jesus Christ as we declare the Lordship of God.

    1. From declaring the Lordship of God comes an encounter with the Lordship of God which releases the Apostolic.

Matt 28:18 – “All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to me”. – Jesus Christ (Jesus Christ, Apostle and High Priest – Heb 3:1)

    2. From the Prophetic encounters with God and friendship with God comes the release of the Apostolic.

Acts 13:2 – In the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

When more of the Apostolic and the Prophetic are released into our lands, there will be a great transformations, transformations will happen in different ways.

And it is these encounters with God, that will transform our lands.
    ______
Another Example: David in the Bible, who killed Goliath. He was in love with God, he composed many songs and poets for God. He also killed lions and bear, later in the name of the Almighty God he confronted Goliath. (there are some hidden truths out here in these stories).
