Apostles: Proton, pioneer

Posted: September 27, 2013 in Advancing The Kingdom, Foundation on Apostle/ Apostolic

As we have often wrote, Apostle means “sent one”, “Sent by Christ”, “Messenger”, “An Ambassador of Christ”.. Two of the things that the Apostle Paul wrote regarding “Apostles” –

1. “First of all apostles”, “First” in Greek word is said to be “proton”.. First in time, place, order, rank or importance, proton must probably mean (First in time + place + order + rank + importance). Therefore apostles are Pioneers and Trailblazers…

2. For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like those condemned to die in the arena. – Apostle Paul (1 Cor 4:9a) (So, though personally i don’t put it as an obligation since Paul said “It seems to me”, but suffering seems to be one thing that goes with the Apostolic in one way or another according to this verse though not obligation, since “It seems to Paul”, for he don’t say “It is”.

Meaning of “Pioneer” : –

1. A person who is among those who first enter or settle a region, thus opening it for occupation and development by others.

2. One who is first or among the earliest in any field of inquiry, enterprise, or progress.

3. One of a group of foot soldiers detailed to make roads, dig entrenchments, etc., in advance of the main body.

4. An organism that successfully establishes itself in a barren area, thus starting an ecological cycle of life.

5. To act as a pioneer, Being a pioneer.

6. To be the first to open or prepare (a way, settlement, etc.).

7. To take part in the beginnings of; initiate.

8. To lead the way for (a group); guide.

9. Being the earliest or original.

So, there’s probably “Visions” out there, to fulfill God’s purpose, God’s purpose becomes our purpose. And as Apostolic believers, our purpose on earth is to Advance the Kingdom of God.

Warren Bennis quote it this way, “Vision animates, inspires, transforms purpose into action”. Therefore we’ve got to have a vision or visions.

Important to know, “Just because a Prophet gives a prophetic word or someone gives a prophetic word doesn’t mean it’s from God. We need to test and judge the prophetic words”. Suppose a Prophet or someone said, “God is calling you to Japan”. The prophetic word might be wrong, accurate (right), or slightly accurate (right).

Some (3) ways we can judge a prophetic word in this case –

1. They might be a confirmation of what God already put in your heart or God already spoke in your heart, “God might already put those in your heart” or “God might already gave you that vision without that person knowing it”.

2. If God has not put them in your heart, and you have learn to hear from God, wait on God and ask the Lord for confirmation if that’s from him.

3. If it’s something that’s not in your heart, or you don’t get any confirmation from God, just don’t get emotionally driven unless you truly felt it’s from the Lord, you don’t need to strive and try to make that word happen which is not in your heart.

Anyone can pioneer: Anyone can pioneer, but not all who pioneer are apostles, anyone can start something new, but not everyone who start something new are apostles, they need to be sent by God. And Apostles are not sent by organizations, teams, groups or associations, but sent by God. Though those organizations, teams, groups or associations might release them and even have some ceremony in some cases. The point here is, not everyone who went to mission field or pioneer things are apostles. A pastor can be in a mission field or pioneer things, a prophet can be in a mission field and pioneer, any servants of God might able be do that, any servants of God might able to pioneer something, but doesn’t make them Apostle. Just as anyone who prophesy doesn’t make them a prophet, for anyone being filled in the Holy Spirit or have the Holy Spirit inside of them can prophesy or learn to prophesy, but doesn’t make them a Prophet. In the same way, not everyone who pioneers are Apostles, though it may be part of Apostolic. Others might look for a job or work and find a pioneering works or trailblazing works, others might be appointed to pioneer or blaze a trail in their work or job, they might not necessarily be sent by God. And everyone in an apostolic team who goes somewhere to pioneer, or blaze a trail, pioneer something, are not necessarily an Apostle, important to know.

Anyway, whatever it may be, every believers of Christ of every arena of life need to have the heart of Advancing the Kingdom of God, the Apostolic spirit. And as an Apostolic believers, our purpose on earth is to Advance the Kingdom of God.
