Children are believers

Posted: December 12, 2015 in Family/ kids and environments

We often use the word, “Child like faith” because children are believers. Jesus taught us that we are to receive the Kingdom of God like a child, or else we will not enter it.

“Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” (Luke 18:17)

Children believe quickly:

Children quickly believe what we say, they are humble, they are open, they are people of faith, and they believe everything adults told them. Over the last 10yrs, since 2005, whenever we preached the Gospel, children and young people are often one of the most receptive people. Some research has shown that the Highest percentage of born again Christians were born again during their childhood.

From some of our experiences – One day we had fun and I played with my children, I said jokingly to one of my son, “Pee on my head”, he quickly pee on my head, I didn’t really expect that.

Some months later, we were having fun and I played with my children again, and I jokingly said to one of my son again, “Pee on my back”, he literally pee on my back again, which I didn’t expect. The point is this, “Children believe everything we said”, they are believers.

Therefore it is important for us not to tell lies to them, it is important for us not to speak bad words to them, it is important for us not to relate with bad authority figure, but love them, make friendship with them, speaking the truths to them, if it’s something that they do not need to hear, then don’t tell them but don’t lie to them.

If you promise something to them, it is important that we keep our promise, it can damage their soul, because they trust you too much, don’t betray them.

Our relation to them:

Since children believe everything we say, the way we speak to them and the way we relate to them are important. It is important to show kindness and friendliness to them. They are not to be afraid of us, because the presence of fear is the absence of love.

The word of God said, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love”. (1 John 4:18)

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind”. (2 Tim 1:7)

As parents and guardians, they are not suppose to obey us because they fear us and are afraid of us, they are to obey us without the presence of fear. Making them fear to obey us is only to build the spirit of fear and the absence of love in their life. Wherever love is absence, fear dominate, but there is no fear in love.

Children believe the way we treat them, the way we talk to them, the things we say to them, they are believers. The most important thing in a family is the environment of love, love is the most needed for family and children, and then they need the environment of joy and kindness.

The presence of fear is the absence of love.
