The 5 fold Ministries: This writings are taken from the book “Training a Prophetic people for the Harvest“, written by Monika Flach. Copying parts of the book for trainings is allowed so we copied some part from this book.

Monika Flach is a passionate and sound preacher of faith. Her desire is to train Christians in discipleship and see them mature and grow until they attain to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Ephe 4:13).From 1993-2003 she helped to found and lead a bible school focussing on prayer, worship and the prophetic ministry in Hannover, Germany.

Today her Ministry includes a Training School for team leaders, a Healing Ministry and a Prophetic Apostolic Training Ministry in Europe and Asia (Taken from back page).

Apostles: Apostles are able to restore spiritual houses and buildings. They can either build new spiritual buildings or just make some restoration work or changes in already existing buildings. They have the ability to think in structures and in long-term strategies.

They also have an ability to do spiritual warfare, because they don’t just deal with people. They also have the ability to wage war for a whole region, so that the strongman and the demonic forces have to draw back and the Kingdom of God can be established. (from Page 11)

Prophets: A Prophet (in the office of a prophet) together with the apostle form the war team in the Kingdom to open up the heavenly realm, so that the Kingdom of God can come down to a region and nation. He is not just a seer or futureteller, but has the ability to do warfare to open up the eyes of individuals, of people groups, of regions and nations to see God and the Kingdom. He fights with the word of God. A Prophet is not so much made for prophesying in church mettings, but for bringing in the harvest through churchplanting.

The main Purpose and gifting of an “office prophet” is to bring people closer to Jesus. He has the ability to open up the spiritual senses of the body of Christ and of nations and to help equip the saints for the work in the kingdom. (Ephesians1+4) (Page 43)

The evangelists says: the most important tsk is to reach the lost. Let us all go out. It is enough with shepherding and counselling. The lost are going to hell. They need to know the truth.

The pastor says: Wait! Wait! How dare you! The people are so broken – they would never be a good witness for others. Let us first heal them and deliver them. They need discipleship and training. No, let us prepare them.

The teacher says: It is good, what you say, but you see, the main problem in church is that the people don’t have an understanding of the word. What they need is not just healing and dealing with the past. Come on, they already had more than enough of that. But the real problem is that they have no right understanding about the scriptures. They need the whole pirture of the counsel of God. Let us focus on bible studies – that will equip them better than anything else.

The prophet says: The main problem is that there is no fear of the Lord. People don’t know God as He is. Scripture is fine, but that will make them legalistic. No, they need a personal relationship with Jesus. They must hear his voice daily. Then God himself will heal them and carry them through. they need to be equipped to minister in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and have to learn to live in the invisible Kingdom of God and bring it to the sphere of influence they have.

The apostle says: Now people, all of this is right. But I can see a clear strategy. Everything rises and falls with the strategy. You are only woking with people. But I see the architectural plans of the Kingdom. We must all work together so that we can bring in the harvest. don’t just teach and preach. the problem that I see, is, that we don’t really build something. But the church and the kingdom have to be build strategically.
(Pages 70-71)

(Good to remember that the title of this book is “Training a prophetic people for the Harvest”, therefore “Monika Flack” must have wrote the above as people working in the Harvest field and church planting as we saw what the Apostle says. But then, for strategy itself, the Apostle says “But I can see a clear strategy. Everything rises and falls with the strategy. You are only woking with people. But I see the architectural plans of the Kingdom”.)

The 5 Gifts of Jesus – Ephesians 4
The 5 fold Ministry:

Apostle: “The thumb”: he can easily be in touch with all the other fingers (ministries) and can unite them for work and for the purpose of the Kingdom. He lays the foundation and receives the building plans of the kingdom for a whole region or nation. He can birth not only a family, but a whole people. He is able to wage war for the Kingdom.

Prophet: “The pointing finger”: he points out the heart and the mind and the will and nature of God.

Evangelists: “The middle finger”: he is the “longest finger” and is the one who is most “out there” for the people who don’t know God, yet

Pastor: “The ring finger” (stands for covenant and relationships): he loves the sheep and pastors them, disciples and trains them

Teacher: “The little finger”: he digs into the word in detail, he studies and has the ability to bring the people of God into whole rooms of revelation of the word.

The Apostolic Nature itself is Advancing the Kingdom of God, and for especially the Apostles, it is the heart and the nature to Advance God Kingdom, and it is also one of the main purpose of an Apostle and Apostolic.

Being First Alone does not make Apostleship:

If being the FIRST and STARTING SOMETHING NEW ALONE MADE SOMEONE AN APOSTLE, my wife would be an Apostle, she was the First to pioneer full time works of Seva Bharat Ministry in the whole of Mizoram state in India. But, that does not make her an Apostle, even though she was the First person who pioneered the First Seva Bharat Ministries in the whole state of Mizoram in India, as a Full Time Worker. She was actually looking for a job, so she finds a job, so her job assignment was to do the works of the Lord in Mizoram through Seva Bharat Ministries, she traveled all around Mizoram doing good works and networking with youths in different places and churches. But, they were jobs assigned for her for their job from their Boss from South India.

If being THE FIRST or STARTING SOMETHING NEW IN THE NAME OF CHRIST made somebody an Apostle, then we would be an Apostle with some of our friends when we started THE FIRST Guitar Training Class in the town of Bhuttabari and in those region in a little bit outskirt of Siliguri. We were the FIRST, but not only that, the Guitar Learning Class were also done as a Ministry in Christ Name. There were more than 10 who used to attend that Guitar Training Course. But, those things does not make us an Apostle. We were just doing some good works for the Lord, and we were the FIRST and THE ONLY PEOPLE who did those kind of ministries in those areas, and the ONLY Course ever existed in those region, especially in Christ Name.

Even though all those things may be part of the Apostolic, they didn’t make us an Apostle. But all those are good works for the Kingdom of God, and they are part of Advancing the Kingdom of God.

And while we were working in Discipleship Training School, we sometimes added New topics (New Subjects) in the Training courses, but those things too does not make anyone an Apostle, they are just New subjects Added for the learning, even though they are for the Kingdom of God. They could even be the First New subjects, but those things does not make anyone an Apostle.

Anybody can plant a Church, Pioneer New Ministries or any other things, and that is okay to plant a Church, and those are good for the Kingdom of God, but anyone can plant a Church as well. We often have a thought that Apostleship is about planting a Church, but if we look at the Bible, the main purpose of Jesus sending the Apostles was not to plant a Church itself, but because planting church was sorely needed where they were sent, and where they were serving the Lord, so they plant a Church. But, planting Church alone does not make anyone an Apostle, anyone can plant a Church, a Pastor can plant a Church, Evangelist can plant a Church, Teachers, Prophets, people with any types of gifts and talents, businessmen, and missionaries, any servants of God can plant a Church, and all those are part of Apostolic and Advancing the Kingdom of God. All those might be good, but that does not make them an Apostle. Many people have a traditional believe that Apostleship is about planting a Church, but Apostle means “A sent one”, an “Ambassadors of Christ”. Of Course we need many more people around the world who would plant Churches, and advance the Kingdom of God. And if we Advance the Kingdom of God, we also need to establish the Kingdom of God.

Pioneering: Pioneering too can be done by any believers of Jesus Christ, although that is part of Apostolic, but everyone who pioneered does not mean an “Apostle”, even though pioneering may be a good thing for the Kingdom of God. One of the example I have shared in the first paragraph from my wife would bring descriptions in some ways.

Having a Sent Mentalities:
Apostles are not only “the sent”, anybody can be sent, missionaries can be sent, Prophets can be sent, Evangelist can be sent. Even though Apostles mean “A Sent One”, God can sent anyone that does not make them an Apostle either, but a sent mentalities itself are all part of an Apostolic. And all those works for the Kingdom of God are good things. In fact, all believers of Jesus Christ are sent and must have a sent mentality to transform their regions, cities, towns, areas or the nations. And all those “sent mentalities” are part of an Apostolic.

Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” John 20:21

Apostles are sent with a heart of transformation on this earth as they advance the Kingdom of God. Apostles carry the Authority of the one who sent them, the Authority of Christ. Beside Whatever visions and hearts of transformations they might be given, there is also the mindsets of an Apostle. The mindset of an Apostolic and Apostles, one of the verse we can quote –

Phil 2:5-11

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

The Apostolic mindset knows that a believers of Jesus Christ is to live a life of death and Resurrection, a resurrected life, as Christ was resurrected. We are to be Resurrected and Glorified with Christ.

The Apostolic knows the death of Christ, and they knows that they must die on the cross, and live a life of death. We must be able to say, “I live a life of death”. They also knows the Authority of Christ as they Advance the Kingdom of God on this earth, as the verse said, “Every knee should bow IN THE NAME OF JESUS, IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH AND UNDER THE EARTH“.

There are different graces given in the Body of Christ, let us look at from the 5 fold Ministries : – Ephesians 4:11-13

Teachers – They have the ability to give a detail instructions on the word of God, the Bible. Bringing REVELATIONS OF GOD’S WORDS.
Pastors – They cares for the sheep, families, counseling, etc.
Evangelist – Lost souls, they have a desire to see that all people be saved, get to Heaven and not Hell.
Prophets – Pointing out the will of God, especially the specific will of God on this earth, and also prophesy.
Apostles – They can touch all the other 4, and one of the other main point is The nature of Advancing the Kingdom of God. Apostles also carry a blueprint in their hearts concerning the Church (the Body of Christ), the Kingdom of God, and God’s purposes on the earth.

Apostles also bring “Present Truth” Teachings and Revelations to the Body of Christ. (“Present Truth” taken from 2Peter 1:12 -“Be Established in the Present Truth”).

When we learn to receive from these graces, we will come into maturity in our lives and the Body of Christ. And EVERY SINGLE PARTS of the Body of Christ are IMPORTANT. In the Bible we find that James wrote through revelations he received:-
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights. – James 1:17

And the heartbeat and purpose of an Apostle is to Advance the Kingdom of God and to see the Kingdom of God coming on this earth. The nature of an Apostle and Apostolic itself is Advancing the Kingdom of God. Everybody can start something new for the Kingdom of God, and that is good and important, and the Kingdom of God must be advancing. But the nature of an Apostle itself is a nature of Advancing the Kingdom of God. So, we must also learn to receive from these grace, Apostolic and the Apostle’s grace, the nature of Advancing the Kingdom of God.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth (Matt 6:10)

By, David Chawngthu
Founder: Kingdom Apostolic Ministries

Aizawl, Mizoram, India.

It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Ephe 4:11-13)

The 5 Fold Pastoral Ministries of the Body of Christ –

Looking at different ways God placed different Ministries all over the world, also looking at the scriptures, different churches and also the Global Body of Christ, we could say that the 5 fold Ministries could be placed in different ways in a local church, ministries and the Global Body of Christ. The Bible said that “so that the Body of Christ”, The Body of Christ could be local church, team, ministries, believers in a village and cities, in nation and the whole Global Body of Christ, we all are one in Christ, the Body of Christ.

Even the word ‘Church’ is used in the same way, some use the Word ‘Church’ to speak of a local church, other used them to speak the Body of Christ in a region, city or the Global Church, which also means the Global Body of Christ. And one of the truth is, “Christ died for all people, and all those who believe in Jesus Christ are children of God, we are one Big family, the family of God, and we all are Christ’s Body parts”.
Even the functions of the 5 fold Ministries in the Body of Christ differ in the Body of Christ, some in local churches, some as a city, some other as a region and others to nation or nations.

For example: The way one teacher function and teaches could be different from another function of teachers. The way one Pastor functions could be different from another Pastor, but with the same pastoral grace.

Some main purposes of the 5 Fold Ministries we find from Ephesians 4:11-16, Paul wrote them really in general and not in details regarding these 5 fold Ministries –

To prepare God’s people for works of service,
so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God
and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

The 5 Fold Ministries are Called by God, appointed by God, and are sent by God, and those are the Grace of God upon each one of them, they carry that Grace upon their lives –

Let us look at some examples –

Looking at different ministries and international ministries, local ministries that is present today all over the world – Wonderful Teacher of the Word Joyce Meyer Ministries, Reinhard Bonnke Evangelical, Pastor Rick Warren, Senior Prophet of America Bob Jones, Prophet and Apostle Cindy Jacobs, Prophet and Apostle Bill Hamon, Apostle Dr. C. Peter Wagner, Billy Graham Evangelistic Ministries, many local ministries in India, many other ministries around South Asia, America, Africa and other parts of the world. Present Ministries and also churches the Lord is using today all over the world. And also looking at different scriptures in the Bible, and different experiences.

The writings below may not define everything, but these are some clue for how different kinds of functions can be there just in one callings of the 5 fold Ministries, and also according to their different mixtures of callings, motivational gifts, talents, spiritual gifts, and other gifts as we have written in other writings –

The 5Fold Apostles in the Body of Christ –

Apostles are pioneers in a region, city, state, province, nation or nations. According to their different mixtures of callings, talents and gifts, they also might be different, some are called to region for a purpose, some to people group for a purpose, some to plant churches with a vision, discipleships, some to deep villages, some to nation, nations and cities. They push the boundaries of the church, ministries and the Body of Christ to the edge to advance the Kingdom of God as we saw in the early church. They moved with Kingdom Authority and faith being the Ambassadors for Christ, sometimes demonstrations of the Kingdom comes along with this Kingdom Authority (regarding ‘demonstrations’ read our other writings on the categories of “The Apostles” in this same blog) even though they might not have the Spiritual gifts. They are servants of the Most High God, they do not mind to live on the edge advancing the Kingdom of God. In their characters and natures, most apostles i have seen are people of perseverance and trusting God for something impossible to human efforts in the spheres, region or nation God placed them.
According to Ephesians 3:3-5 – the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly. In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets.
So, God used His Holy Apostles and Prophets to make known the mysteries of Christ which were not made known in other generations.

1. Apostles in the local Church with a vision to transform her city or town
2. Apostles in villages working as a Missionary to bring transformation to the areas, village, town or city, to people group or tribe He is sent
3. Apostles in Church Planting, or Church Planting Movement, though not all who plant churches are Apostles, even pastors, evangelist or any other could be the one who plant a church and that is okay. But, Apostles are experts or graced in laying the foundations
4. Apostles Pioneering new Present Truths or Revelations to people group, region, town, city, state or province, or even to a nation or nations. Penetrating, preaching, and teaching with Kingdom Authority and Servant-hood. We find these, Apostles bringing Present Truths all over the world.
5. Apostles Pioneering New Ministries for the Kingdom of God in an area, town, city, region, state, province, nation or even nations which did not exist in those areas before.
6. There could be many other ways new initiatives could be taken, sent by God to be pioneer and to be the Kingdom Ambassador for Him.

The 5Fold Prophets in the Body of Christ:

There are also many types of Prophets, they differ from one to another, but also have some common functions. They have a deep relationship with God, and they desire to see the Body of Christ hearing the voice of God, those are some main general points. They also have the grace to be persistent becaus

1. Local church Prophets
2. Prophets to the City, nation or nations
3. Prophetic team
4. Prophetic Ministries
5. Prophets in Music, Arts and so on
6. Prophets who trained people in the prophetic
7. Prophets to the Government and Churches
8. Prophets whose main works are to train the Body of Christ in Hearing the Voice of God and Prophecies
9. There could be more then these, these are just some examples

The 5Fold Evangelists in the Body of Christ:

Their main heart is to reach out to the lost souls; they are consumed after the lost. They have the Grace to draw the lost people to Christ. Many evangelist has the grace to gather the lost and bring them to the Kingdom of God.

1. Local church Evangelist
2. Evangelist Missionaries
3. Traveling Evangelists, they can be in a region, nation or nations
4. Evangelistic team
5. Evangelistic Ministries
6. Television Evangelist
7. Media Evangelist
8. Evangelists in Work place with the main purpose of Evangelism, sometimes evangelism are not always possible, so people went to work just for the purpose to make rooms for evangelism.
9. Healing Evangelists
10. There can be many more creative ways
11. And others..

The 5 fold Pastors in the Body of Christ:

They love and care for their sheep, knows them intimately, they are relational, they are good for building relationships with one another. They care for families and family relationships, they give counseling to families and to people, and they are friendly and easily relatable. Those are some of the main Grace we can write from a Pastoral Ministries functions.

1. Pastor of a local Church
2. Looking at the functions of a Pastoral Ministries and the needs just in one church, there could be needs for many pastors in one church, especially in Big Churches, some churches have youth pastors, and different other pastors who worked in full time.
3. City Pastors, who have a pastoral ministries inside the city, eg. Centers for Counseling and dealing with the wounds of people in the city.
4. People who have or worked in a rehabilitation centers, who love and cares for the people they served, knows them intimately and have a good relationship with them, who listens and give good counseling to them, help to heal the inner wounds of people, many people especially around the NE India who stayed in the rehabilitation centers are already born again in some parts of their lives, it could also be in many parts of the world, especially in the lands of Christians, but they need a pastoral care and counseling, they didn’t receive a good pastoral care and counseling. We can call these people Pastors, because many of their works described pastoral ministries. For some people it might be hard to call them pastors, because in many places the way we knows pastor is someone who stands on the pulpit and preach, or someone who look after a church. But, these people who worked in a rehabilitation centers and give counseling to them, cares for them, knows them intimately, served them, love them as a good Shepherd, they did a good pastoral works, from their works we could also call them Pastors because of many cases, or Pastoral Evangelist, or Evangelist Pastor. Though Callings among the drug addicts and prostitutes does not mean a pastoral ministries, but they knows them intimately, care for them, have good relationship and friendship with them, gives counsels to them, served them, those are parts of the Pastoral Ministries.
5. People whose main works are to train others in family counseling, train couples and families, who taught about the importance of families and also counsel them, they teach and train others on relationships in a family and couples, kids and parents.

The 5 Fold Teachers in the Body of Christ:

They have the grace to study the Word of God in details and more systematic ways, they also have the Grace to receive revelations of the Words of God as they study the Word of God. They have the Grace to explain the word of God briefly in an understandable ways, and are patient to teach the Word of God.

1. Teachers in a local church
2. A teacher of the Word in a class room settings having students
3. A travelling teacher, whose main works are traveling to different training places to teach the words of God, or organizing different events in different places to teach the Words of God.
4. A teacher through television and media
5. A teacher through writing books for the Body of Christ, having their main works in studying the Word of God and writing books with their studies and revelations they received from God.
6. There could be some other ways of teaching the Words of God as well, for example – youtube, facebook and other things.

Conclusion: –

Everyone in the 5 fold Ministries are called to servant-hood. Jesus said to His disciples, “Whoever wants to be Great among you must be servants of all”. So, one of the Greatness in the Kingdom is servant-hood, having a humble heart and a servant heart, sometimes servant-hood is about transparency, other times humbleness and not false humility, but a heart to serve others with the graces given.

The 5 fold Ministries carry the Grace given to them wherever they go in the whole world. A teacher always have that grace to teach anywhere he goes, an evangelist always have the Grace to reach the lost wherever he goes, so is with the Prophets, Apostles and Pastors. ‘Grace’ here is the ability given by God to do what is impossible only with human efforts, but with the Supernatural.

A Teacher of the Word might be teaching in their classroom, land or country, but it may not be wise to just teach everywhere unless he is invited by others, or a door is opened for him by God directly in some other ways. But, the Graces and authority upon them itself is always upon them wherever they go in this world, as long as they are with God. So, is with the Apostles and Prophets, they always carry their authority everywhere, and the graces upon them is always there everywhere, even for emergencies, situations and circumstances, and for different other things, and it will also be part of their lifestyle. It is somehow similar with a driver who drives a car, just as a driver can always drive cars everywhere he goes, but he will need to borrow a car or rent a friend’s car to drive in other countries or places. So, similarly, it may not always be wise to use those graces and authority placed upon them everywhere, unless there is an opportunity opened for him or her, and will required servant-hood, some wisdom and discernment from God as well. Wisdom and Servant-hood are one part that will be important here in serving one another and working with one another.
And on the other hand, we must also be prepared and ready to minister and be a blessings wherever we are, for Christ and His Kingdom.

Last of all, everyone can pioneer or advance the Kingdom of God, and everyone are to be part of advancing the Kingdom of God. Everyone can prophesy, see visions and dreams, can get deeper into the things of God, can do prophetic actions, and are to have a good relationship with God, and everyone can do evangelism, and can see lost souls saved, and bring the lost souls into the Kingdom of God. Everyone can care for the sick, build good families, build good friends and help others in counseling other people who are in wounds. Everyone can study and also teach the word of God with revelations from the Bible. But, there are also graces given to different people in the Body of Christ, because God created us to help and serve one another in the Body of Christ.

– David Chawngthu

I believe this is what the Lord has revealed to me, it has been in my heart for some few days, we are not comparing, we are not making one great and one small, they are all of God, but I believe the Lord wants us to know these things that we would know when we can use them in situations and circumstances and different things for our lives and for the works of God.

What I mean by the Apostolic songs is about the nature, the blessings and the anointing that the songs brought forth.

There are evangelical songs, there are prophetic songs, and there are also an Apostolic songs.

Evangelical songs: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephe 2:8-9)

Evangelical songs will take you to the cross where you are saved by Grace. For Eg: “Only by Grace we can enter, not by our human endeavors”. Those types of songs where we find ourselves forgiven and saved by grace on the Cross, where Jesus died for us, being loved and forgiven on the cross. Since most believers all over the world are quiet familiar with Evangelical songs, we will not be explaining more of this.

Prophetic songs:

Prophetic songs will draw you deeper to God, where you will hear the voice of God, God healed your wounds through the songs, and your spirit is raised up through deep intimacy with God. They also build us up in our walk with God and Relationship with God. Sometimes the songs may go more as God singing a song for us and ministering to our spirit. Many good songs that can draw us closer to God and also ministered to our spirits are also sung by Jason Upton, if anyone wants to find them out either from the internet or other things.

Prophetic songs take us to an encounter with God, and it is the encounters with God that shape History in the Kingdom of God. We are to make God known and Proclaim His name and His Kingdom, but without knowing God we cannot proclaim Him, the only way to know God is to experience Him, we can read Bible, we can read good books, we can do many other things to know Him, but if we do not experienced God in our hearts and other things, then we do not understand them. So, prophetic songs will take us to an encounter with God. When we read the Bible, it comes alive with the understanding of the Scriptures form the Holy Spirit, and draw us closer to God, and makes us know God more and more, then with boldness we can proclaim who our God is into this world. So, we need prophetic songs and especially prophetic things throughout our lives.

Apostolic Songs: Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. (Matt 28:18)

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands”. (Acts 17:24)

Apostolic songs will build your faith, since the foundation for “Advancing the Kingdom of God” is “All Authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to Jesus Christ”, “Jesus Christ is Lord of Heaven and Earth”. So, it is about the Greatness of God, about His Lordship, about His Greatness, His ability, His Authority in Heaven and on Earth, His Lordship in Heaven and on Earth to Advance the Kingdom of God.

Even though we are focusing more on Apostolic songs at this moment, and as the Lord has highlighted in my heart to write them down, we all need Evangelical songs from time to time, we need the forgiveness of our sins from time to time, we always need to know that we are sinners saved by the Grace of God as well, so we continually need Evangelical songs where we find ourselves forgiven from our sins from time to time as a human being, where we knows again and again that we are saved by the Grace of God. But, we cannot dwell in this Evangelical songs only and get back to the cross and dwell around where our sins are forgiven, we need to rise up above that to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We also need prophetic songs after we receive Jesus Christ throughout our lives, they will reveal to us the foundations for our lives, where we are to build our lives. They will draw us closer to God, they will bring us to deeper relationship and intimacy with God, build and strengthened our walk with God from the inside, they will give us inner strength, and we always need to have relationship with God, they are the foundations for our lives. Relationship with God is the first calling of every believers live, from our relationship with God comes other things and ministries, and the ability to work, the ability to advance the Kingdom of God, the ability to serve God and all other good works and services, and it is foundational for a believers of Jesus Christ to have a relationship with God.

On the other hand, all these Evangelical songs, prophetic songs and Apostolic songs are all somehow related and are all Apostolic, Evangelical and also Prophetic in some ways, but they also have slide differences and anointing that it carried, so that is why it is also important for us to know them.

Some few songs of the Apostolic songs are –

We place you in the Highest Place:

We place you in the Highest Place,

For you are the Great High Priest,

We place you High above all else,

And we come to you,

And Worship at Your feet.

Our God is Greater:

Water You turned into wine
Open the eyes of the blind
There’s no one like You
None like You
Into the darkness You shine
Out of the ashes we rise
There’s no one like You
None like You

CHORUS
Our God is greater, our God is stronger
God You are higher than any other
Our God is Healer, awesome and power
Our God, Our God…

Into the darkness you shine
Out of the ashes we Rise
There’s no One like You
None like You.

BRIDGE
And if Our God is for us, then who could ever stop us
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?
And if Our God is for us, then who could ever stop us
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?
What can stand against?

How Great is Our God:

(Chorus)
How great is our God,
Sing with me
How great is our God,
and all who sing
How great, How great
Is our God

(1st stanza)
The splendor of a King,
Clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice,
Let all the earth rejoice,
He wraps himself in light,
And darkness tries to hide
And trembles at his voice,
And trembles at his voice

(2nd stanza)
Age to age he stands
And time is in His Hands
Beginning and the End,
Beginning and the End
The Godhead, Three in one
Father, Spirit, Son
The Lion and the Lamb,
The Lion and the Lamb
Name above all names
You are Worthy of all praise
and My heart will sing how great
Is our God

Apostolic songs are usually starting from the Cross where Christ died for us to His Resurrection and the power of God, the Lordship of God, the Greatness of God and advancing the Kingdom of God for the Glory of God.

Many Christians in different places only dwells around the songs where we are forgiven, we are saved by grace and all those type of songs, of course we do need that, but we need to get to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, declare His Lordship, rather than only living around the cross, we need to live from the cross.

Apostolic songs do not dwell around the cross, but it starts from the Cross to the Resurrection and the Kingdom of God coming on this earth, where His Lordship is declared and Christ Kingdom Coming on this earth, and His Kingdom Advancing with the Lordship of God. Even in our songs, praise and worship, if we have dwelled around the cross for too long generations, we need to get to that place of our dwelling on the forgiveness of our sins to His Resurrections, declaring His Lordship, His Greatness and His Kingdom Coming on this Earth. Those are apostolic songs.

Ephesians 2:5-11 declares the Greatness of God – CHRIST SERVANT-HOOD, HUMBLENESS, DIE TO SELF, HIS DEATH ON THE CROSS, HIS RESURRECTION, HIS LORDSHIP IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH AND UNDER THE EARTH, AND EVERY TONGUE CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD.

Pastoral Ministries in the Context of the Northeast Indian:

Pastoral Ministries are working well in many areas of the Northeast India and that is good, for example in the areas – serving one another, coming together as a communities, visiting the sick in hospitals, helping one another and community relationships, those things are good and must go on.

But, there are things that we also need to grow in Pastoral Ministries, which are more of the inner issue and more dept – Biblical counseling, listening to one another’s burdens, healing the wounds of others through listening to them in person to person or as a smaller group, and praying for one another at that same moment, not a prayer request from the market place or street, but together in the listening to one another times. We prayed for one another a lot, but more of that what is important is that we really knows and listen to their hearts for the healings of people’s wounds and then prayed for one another, in that way they can be more useful again for the works to which God has called them and to serve the Lord, even though complete healings for all things might not be possible at once. And it is the process to be done in the midst of our workings for God.

As we Work and serve, doing the job, at the mean time the Pastoral Counseling are important that people can be more useful for the works of God. We cannot give everything only to counseling others and healing their wounds, but at the same time we cannot neglect to bring healing to the wounds of others on the process of their serving the Lord or as they work their daily works.

But if the Body of Christ in a city, region or state are Big enough, there will be much work and many pastoral counseling centers will be needed for the Body of Christ that work in full times. Pastoral Counseling are not just for drug addicts, prostitutes and so on, but even for pastors themselves, servants of God, business people, Mummy working tired at home and all types of people. They are really one Mission that are needed. Listening to one another and bring healing to the wounds of one another.

Pastoral Ministries are also useful especially after a long works of Missions or works, at the same time during the works and serving. Other times, People can get burned out and they can need a Pastoral care counseling to get back to work, at that moment they also need some rest that they can start their works again with more strength. Or, in the midst of missions and works, providing for pastoral care counselings are one useful thing.

If Pastoral Ministries are not functioning well or are not there, in a team, in a ministry, or in the Body of Christ, especially in Big Ministries or tiring works and missions, then there are possibilities for more burn outs, strive, brokenness and tiredness. The characters of the relations of one another will be more rough, like sheep without Shepherd.

When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things. (Mark 6:34).

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were Harassed and Helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (Matt 9:36).

The part I’m picking out from these verses is that ‘they were harassed and helpless’, it may not be in context with the Bible verse, but the character, a Shepherd usually guides their sheep closely and knows them intimately and cares for their them, and that’s quiet a type of Pastoral Ministry part we can pick out from here.

There are also many other Bible verses from the Bible – what we may called, “The One Another Passages”, care for one another in love, serve one another, respect one another, and so on..

Some main definitions of a Pastoral Works are – serving one another in love (Gal 5:13), caring one another (1Cor 12:15), helping one another, dealing with the wounds of people, having a covenant relationship with one another, making small groups for strengthening and encouraging, fellowship with one another, giving Biblical counseling and listening to people, and so on. Some of the things pastoral people are interested are wedding and marriages, family relationship, children and kids.

Families are important, they are the one who formed the Bigger communities coming together, so either in communities or marriage counseling, how to bring up children and kids, and dealing with burn outs working hard, giving rest and peace to people, they are important for all these things in general.

All these things are some main works of the Pastoral Ministries, and in many ways, we as a Northeast Indian, we are good in many ways of them. But there are some few important points where we also need to grow, some of our languages in communities, in Biblical counseling, listening to people and dealing with people’s hurts and wounds, making a small groups of fellowship with one another to build covenant relationships, and not only for that purpose, but also for people to strengthened and encouraged with one another in their faith. Those are the things we seemed to be lacking in Pastoral Ministries around our region in the Northeast Indian Body of Christ.

In other things, we are more type of community cultures where we also need to develop more to be a pioneering culture.

– David Chawngthu

First of all regarding Pastoral and Apostolic, we really need Pastoral functions in our churches, ministries and the Body of Christ, especially around the Northeast India, it is not only the Apostolic and the Prophetic that we are lacking, but also Pastoral types of functions are really lacking where Biblical Counselings are done with dealing issues and past life, and we need to grow in that. I believe generally we lack much in Pastoral counseling, even though we are community type of culture, as we grow in Pastoral Counseling and build a Pastoral communities in our culture, we also are to move from Pastoral only to Apostolic cultures. We also cannot just dwell in the Pastoral communities as well even though our communities may need healing of their lives, because the Spirit of the Lord is pushing our region to the Apostolic as well.

And regarding the word church, when we write “Church”, it could be ‘a church’ or it could be the Body of Christ, it can be relevant to both, even for many ministries and for the Kingdom of God.

When we have no more heart for advancing the Kingdom of God, we became a dead church or a dead culture. Generally, in the context of the Northeast Indian believers of Jesus Christ (the Body of Christ), also can be relevant to some other places around the world, but especially for the Northeast Indian context, when the members, the environments and the Body of Christ is more consumed with having degrees, having better church buildings, having a better materials just for the purpose of “NICE” and not for the purpose of Kingdom advancements, then the church slowly went toward being a Dead Church, there will be no life in that church, nor will there be heart for the Kingdom of God and its advancements.

More than a Church of uniformity, keeping the status qua and preventing the ancient days tradition systems, the church where there are good discussions in meetings, where leaders can be questioned, where people boldly share their opinions, where you do not mind to live on the edge for the purpose of Kingdom Advancements, willingness to change systems and ways of functions as needed, on the other hand where the Holy Spirit and the moves of God are valued, and the characters of God are valued to be applied as well, those churches or cultures will advanced the Kingdom of God, and there will be more advancements of the Kingdom of God, there will be visions, there will be actions.

That also does not mean that the characters and natures of God are neglected, the characters of God are not an exception for a believers lives, they are a ‘must’ to cultivate, develop, grow and be applied.

Confrontations for the purpose of Kingdom advancements:

Confrontation is Biblical and is Godly when they are needed, especially for the purpose of Kingdom advancements.
We find that Paul confront Peter in Galatians 2:11-14 –

When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong. Before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.
When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, “You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs? (Galatians 2:11-14)

Here Paul confront Peter, this is because Peter was not relating to people according to the customs that were not sins. For example in today’s world, we have the drug addicts, we have people roaming in the streets, we also have many good people and youths who are also Christians but do not attend church and services, people who usually stay at home and use media, who do not usually go to services and so on, born and brought up in different places, or having different cultures because of different kinds of environments, works, brought up and other things.

For example, most of the churches in the Northeast India are British culture, especially for Mizoram. We also have all types of culture just in one culture, all different types of people, and they have their own types of customs, if we are to relate to these Gentiles, we cannot force them to follow our customs, we cannot try to make their outward looks in our image, that is why to advance the Kingdom of God is also a servant-hood, so different types of people needs to be who they are.

So, even if anyone, anyone came to the Lord or we brought them to Christ, it is not our job to try to change their outwards to our outward looks, that’s another point out here.

But the main point that I’m trying to draw out from here is that – you can question leaders, you can confront people when needed, even though personally I do not agree with always confronting, but I agree with confronting when needs are there. Peter was one of the main leader from the early church, He had been with Jesus, has followed and served Jesus Christ way before Paul even got conversion, Peter already served the Lord while Paul was a persecutor. Also Peter and Paul were in different ministries, Peter was among the Jews, and Paul among the Gentiles, they were having different mission, different focus and different ministries, but Peter needs some confrontations, so Paul confront him in front of all the people that others may not practice what Peter their leader did.
Jesus also confront the Pharisees and the Teachers of the law when they were in wrong, Jesus was not one of the leader of the synagogue, He had no positions, was just one of the member who also teaches sometimes but with authority, but Jesus confronted them. The whole chapter 23 of Matthew was about Jesus confronting the Pharisees and the Teachers of the laws, He not only confront them, but He even teaches and told the crowds and His disciples about what the teachers of the law and the Pharisees were doing.

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: (Matthew 23:1)
In, Luke 11:37-54, we also find Jesus confronting the Teachers of the law and the Pharisees.

Paul’s purpose of confronting Peter was for the Advancement of the Kingdom of God, one main point of Jesus purpose in confronting the Pharisees and the teachers of the law was for the purpose of the advancement of the Kingdom of God.

Some people wants to cover up everything, and seemed good from the outside, and those are not bad, there are times those things are needed, but of course not always. We need to go from those types of pastoral only to apostolic, where we really have a desire to advance the Kingdom of God and do not even mind to speak out and also work to bring the changes that are needed in the Kingdom of God for the advancements of the Kingdom of God, the things that are and can be hindrances for the advancements of the Kingdom of God. God has given us an assignment to advance His Kingdom on this earth.

When a church is really consumed with advancing the Kingdom of God, it cannot keep the status qua for generations or for a whole generation. But today, there are many churches and the Body of Christ seemed to be living a lot in the status qua, especially around the Northeast India, not just for 5-10 years, but for generations to generations there were no real change. In most cases, this is because; we are not consumed enough with advancing the Kingdom of God.

Advancing the Kingdom of God is not about how many new born babies were born in the church that added the members in the generation or generations, nor it is about taking people from other denominations, or about competing with other churches and denominations in materials and uniformities, but where Jesus is worshiped as King, is worshiped as Lord, and the Kingdom of God is advancing.

But, it is also totally okay if a church is advancing the Kingdom of God and other church members where there are no advancements are encouraged to be members of your church. But, without competition of course, and advancing the Kingdom of God does not always mean numbers of people, it is not political, and the main goal is just to advance the Kingdom of God.

Advancing the Kingdom of God is not political, even though Governments are for the Kingdom of God:

When Jesus first sent out His disciples, they went out 2 by two, so it is not political, rather it is about the task given by God, it is about fulfilling the assignments of God. A less number that advance the Kingdom of God work much more rather than the amount of numbers that do not advance the Kingdom of God.

Calling the Twelve to him, he sent them out two by two and gave them authority over evil spirits. (Mark 6:7)

After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. (Luke 10:1)

Sometimes, to pioneer or to advance the Kingdom of God, the needs may be 10 workers, other times 5 workers, other times 2 or 3 according to the purpose and the mission and the starting works requirements. Pioneering is not a political thing, but it is about fulfilling what God has Commissioned or assigned to do. Doing the Mission impossible, doing them with the God of possible, penetrating with the power of God.

God’s advice to Zerubbabel when He was laying the foundation and building the temple:

Above all what we have written, there is one thing that the Lord really put importance, it is good to remember what the Spirit of the Lord Almighty had said to Zerubbabel through Zechariah, when Zerubbabel was laying the foundation of the temple and building the temple in Zech 4.

So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.

“What are you, O mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of ‘God bless it! God bless it!’”

Then the word of the Lord came to me: “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you.

“Who despises the day of small things? Men will rejoice when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel.

“(These seven are the eyes of the Lord, which range throughout the earth.)”

(Zech 4:6-10)

So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.  (Zech 4:6).

LET US ADVANCE THE KINGDOM OF GOD WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD.

DAVID CHAWNGTHU

Hearing the Voice of God is not an option for a believer of Jesus Christ to hear for one self. If we look at America, Africa and many places in the world, we find that many training places and churches are taught how to hear the voice of God for themselves and they hear for themselves. It is not just for some Spiritual Giants, Hearing the Voice of God is for every single person who believes in Jesus Christ.

If we also look at YWAM (Youth with a Mission), all people who worked in YWAM all over the world, more than 20,000 servants of God, missionaries and people who worked in training places and in many other works are trained to hear the Voice of God, and are trained to make decision in many cases of their lives and decision making by Hearing the Voice of God. And it is not a new thing for the YWAM’ers to speak about Hearing the Voice of God, it is normal thing to them in their communities and environments of YWAM’ers. In their personal time time with the Lord, for friendship with God, for strengthening themselves, and corporate, in worship times, in prayer times, in decision making and many other things, they did many things by hearing the Voice of God. They believe that all believers of Jesus Christ can hear the Voice of God, so it happened as they believe.

Jesus said,
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. (John 10:27)

So, it is for all believers of Jesus Christ, and everybody can hear the Voice of God if we take time to listen to His Voice. Take time to listen to His Voice and God will speak to you. If you are a born again believer of Jesus Christ, a born again Christian, then You are qualified to hear the Voice of God – for your life, for friendship with Him. And it is foundational for all believers of Jesus Christ.

Servant of God,
